George Osborne comments on Independence

George Osborne (Former MP) has a simple plan to stop Scottish independence and it is a master stroke. He wants Boris to keep saying “No”. Let’s all take a moment to point and laugh at him.

Guess what?

The Scottish administration has always had the power to hold a referendum in Scotland. Being legally binding is irrelevant; the Brexit referendum was similarly not binding. The only important thing is to get a majority yes vote then push on with independence. The British will have three choices

George Osbornes recent comments show exactly what is wrong with the UK. The union is, was and always shall be fervently anti-Scottish and rampantly English nationalistic. An unfair majority of English MPs based upon being a larger land area from the very founding of the union proves that there are no equals to England and never shall be. For their politicians to blatantly say that the majority view of Scots should be denied is frankly the actions of a dictatorship

  1. Refuse to accept the finding and take their own devolved administration to court.
  2. Refuse the findings and dissolve their own devolved administration
  3. Send in troops
  4. Accept the will of the people of Scotland.

The first is the most likely but comes when the Peoples Action on Section 30 is in the courts awaiting the Judges verdict in a matter of days. The second is technically an option. However Westminster would find it impossible to take over from their devolved administration immediately. It could lead to a break down of government in Scotland and maybe even civil unrest. The third option is pure fantasy spouted by unionists online unless Westminster really wants to end the union in civil war. Finally the fourth option is the best for future relations between whatever remains of the UK and an independent Scottish State.

In conclusion simply continuing to say no as George Osborne suggests is not an option for the UK it will not be accepted by Scots and it will be ignored.
