Why gender politics?

Why gender politics? Why not free heroin for junkies or adoption rights for child sex offenders? Seriously if you are going to skewer your party on an issue no one wants put into law why choose men and women pretending to be the opposite sex the topic?

I’m not saying its wrong to dress up as the opposite sex or someone shouldn’t get their parts surgicaly removed. I see no reason why not to give fake penises on the NHS either. But why is gender politics legislation worth burning the vital political capital needed for the far more important subject of Scottish Independence?

All this does is make the SNP look like a party willing to put issues that effect a small minority over issues that effect all Scots.
