Scotland – Better Independent

Scotland – Better Independent

Before England existed there was Scotland an independent State apart from any other territory in the British Isles. Blessed with majestic Monroe’s, bountiful Glens, forests full of timber, wild life aplenty and the best wee nation of people to walk the face of the Earth. We didn’t need the British to flourish. We didn’t ask for their governance. Frankly they did not exist and we went about our business just fine. Now after 316 years of rule the argument for Scotland to stay in the Union is that the UK government has mismanaged Scotland so badly it can not support itself. If that doesn’t make sense to you its because after “Better Together” nonsense is all the UK has left.

The last gasps of the British Empire shows us why the British are so eager to hold onto Scotland. After WW2 the British economy became severely weakened. Many of the territories of the British Empire declared independence and Britain willingly helped them leave as they hadn’t the money to keep them; a war ravaged United Kingdom was on the verge of collapse.

Today the UK is £2’445.2 billion in debt as of Q3 2022 (1)

That’s not a crippling debt but also not a small debt. With Brexit permanently damaging the UK economy it is not going to go away anytime soon. Now Imagine what would happen if Scotland took its economy out of the United Kingdom? Unionists will no doubt cry that Scotland doesn’t contribute enough to the UK to matte. But remember the UK let it’s empire go as it couldn’t afford to keep it. So it wants to keep Scotland in the UK because of what…? Our charming personalities? The United Kingdom’s very own history betrays it’s modern day motives. Scotland is profitable to the UK and the loss of hard cash would place that debt firmly on their shoulders. A fact proved when in Parliament the UK government promised to honour all debt owed before 2014s independence referendum. (2)

Nearly two and a half Trillion Great British Pounds in debt and suddenly most of the oil and gas fields, all of the scotch whiskey exports, and a large part of the renewable energy generating capability is removed from the UK economy. That debt will weigh a lot heavier on the UKs balance sheet after Scottish independence.

Scotland has a choice coming, the lies of 2014 have been found out. Devo-Max proven a lie, Federalisation proven a lie, pension security proven a lie, continued EU membership proven a lie. Project fear has only GERS to wave at Scots, a list of figures pulled out of the dark, corrupt pit that is the British economy and proves only one thing if we take it at face value. That after running Scotland for over 300 years the UK has consistently failed to put the Scottish nation on a successful economic path. How is that a good reason to stay?

Independence will not be easy nothing worthwhile is ever easy. We will have problems, challenges and will no doubt make mistakes. All countries have these issues but the people that we elect to deal with these problems will not be in a foreign country hundreds of miles away having subsidised lunches on the shores of the Thames. They will be in Edinburgh at Holyrood a stones throw away from you in comparison. Your vote as a Scot will finally count, your vote as a Scot will finally directly empower your MSP to speak for Scotland, your vote as a Scot will finally matter for the first time since 1707.
